6 July 2026: what happened that day

A factual account, recorded from Trudy's own account, of the events of 6 July 2026 surrounding her placement in a care institution.

This post records what, according to Trudy, happened in her own home on 6 July 2026. The account below is her account of that day.

The appointment

On 6 July 2026 an appointment was scheduled at Trudy’s home at 9:15, in the house in Gouda where she has lived for more than thirty years and which she owns. The appointment concerned the continuation of her home care. Two care professionals were present: a team leader from the home-care organisation and a physician.

What Trudy made clear

During this meeting Trudy stated clearly and repeatedly that she wishes to remain living in her own home. Because of her deteriorating health due to COPD, she in fact asked for more scheduled care and help at home, so that she could stay there.

The decision

According to Trudy she was told that home care was no longer considered viable, and that she would be placed against her will in compulsory care in an institution far from her home town. Trudy states that this decision was not discussed with her, her son, or her privately arranged help beforehand, and that she expressly refused this outcome.

Now

According to Trudy she is currently being held in the institution against her will. Her express wish is to return to her own home and to receive the home care she asked for. The matter is being handled with the assistance of a lawyer.
